Quest Electronics is currently developing two high quality, low cost side scan sonar systems.  The first system, which will use a television display, will be undergoingwater trials in early June.  Prototypes could be available for sale in the US in June, and international availability will follow shortly.  The second system prototypes, which will be PC based and include several additional features, are under development and should follow shortly after the functional sonar subsystem is demonstrated on the television based system.   Pictured above - the towfish prototype during August, 1999 hydrodynamic tests.

Both of the proposed systems will use the same sonar data acquisition subsystem.  Also, upon product release, buyers of the prototype system will have the option to upgrade by returning the prototype system and paying the price difference between the prototype system and the production system.
